Gail Blackman Peace 78, of Raleigh, NC, passed away Friday, May 2, 2025, at Duke University Hospital.
Born in Harnett County, she was the daughter of the late Paul Blackman and Lorue Wooten Blackman.
Gail retired after more than 56 years of service as a registered nurse, having worked in a variety of roles, most recently at Duke University Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. Conducted by the Rev. Zach Davenport. Interment will follow at South Granville Memorial Gardens.
Survivors include one son, Chris Beasley (Donna); two grandchildren, Christy Shuta (Austin) and Amanda Newton (James); three great grandchildren, Mackenzie Newton, Ollie Newton and Levi Shuta; three sisters, Jean Hanchey (Thomas), Regina Kennedy and Dixie Borroughs; one brother, Paul Ray Blackman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At other times they will be at her home in Raleigh.
Pallbearers will be Gary Blackman, Corey Copley, Austin Shuta, James Newton, J. Beck and T.L. Beck.
