Genelle G. Holmes

Genelle "Nell" Griffin Holmes, 94, of Henderson, N.C. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 12, 2025,

Born in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Monnie Gupton Griffin and Henry Lee Griffin.  She was the widow of James Atwood Holmes.

She was longtime member of First Baptist Church, a former member of Henderson Junior Women's Club and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Nell really loved life and was a loving wife a special mother to Phil and Phyllis.

There will be a private graveside service.

Surviving is one daughter, Phyllis Holmes Davis, one son, Phillip A. Holmes; one granddaughter, Elizabeth Jordan Holmes; and numerous extended family members.  Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Mack, Perry, Maynard and Lester.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, March 18, 2025, from 12:00-1:30 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson.
