Geneva Robbins Smithwick 92, of Henderson NC, passed away Monday, January 27, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Houston County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Thales Thomas Robbins and Ruth Bateman Robbins. She was the widow of James Walter "J.W." Smithwick.
Ms. Smithwick was a longtime member of North Henderson Baptist Church and the Gideon International Auxiliary. She also decorated many cakes and taught cake decorating at Vance-Granville Community College.
A funeral service will be held Friday, January 31, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at North Henderson Baptist Church. Conducted by the Rev. Eddie Nutt. Interment will follow at Brown's Baptist Church Cemetery.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary S. Weatherington (Brad) and Liz S. Stover (Mark); one son, John Thomas Smithwick; two brothers, James Herman Robbins and Thales Carlton Robbins; five grandchildren, David Weatherington (Katherine), Michael Smithwick (Tessa), Jason Smithwick (Kalayna), Andrew Stover (Sheila) and Adam Weatherington (Rose); and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Willa R. Taylor; and one brother, John Garner Robbins.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. At other times they will be at the home.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Stover, Mark Stover, David Weatherington,  Lee Jordan, Ben Heath, Mike Smithwick and Jim Rosengrant.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, PO Box 97251, Washington, DC 20090.
