Gerald Ramey, 78, of Butner, NC, passed away suddenly Tuesday, May 2, 2023.

Born in Franklin County, NC on August 6, 1944, he was the son of the late Fred and Cleo Ramey.

Retired from Altec Industries, Gerald was an avid sports fan, especially fond of NASCAR racing and NBA basketball. He was a member of the National Horseshoe Pitchers Association and competed in tournaments across the state. He also enjoyed golfing with family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6,2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor . Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Franklinton, NC.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Brenda Ramey; son, Rodney Ramey (Julie); daughter, Corrie Matheny (Bruce); grandchildren, Hannah and Luke Matheny; sister, Freda Ramey; and brother, Craig Ramey.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by his sister, Gwynda Downing.

The family will receive visitors from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. , Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Sossoman Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
