Harold Lee Puckett, age 90, a lifetime resident of Granville County, peacefully entered into eternal rest on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on November 21, 1935 in Granville County, he was the son of the late Alvis Lee Puckett and Julia Haskins Puckett. Harold lived a life rooted in devotion to his loved ones, his community, and his faith. For 64 remarkable years, he was the devoted and loving husband of Betty Woodlief Puckett. Always inseparable, together, they modeled a partnership of profound love, mutual respect, and an enduring commitment to one another that served as an inspiration to everyone who knew them.

A family-oriented man, his heart was wide open to his large and extended family. Harold was welcoming in his quiet and gentle manner and so caring of others. Many will miss his special birthday calls with him singing happy wishes.

Growing up on a tobacco farm, Harold learned early the value of working hard and he carried this work ethic throughout his life. His perseverance, never giving up, being there for others persisted until the end of his life, even with his declining health.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his siblings, Richard (Dickey) Puckett, Oscar William (Bill) Puckett (Joyce), and Sophie Doris (Dot) Adcock (Melvin) all of Oxford, Nellie Taylor of Raleigh and many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who adored him. He was preceded in death by his sister, Annie Gray Wilson.

To his core, Harold was the epitome of a good and faithful servant. A cornerstone of Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church for over 60 years, he dedicated approximately 50 years of leadership and care as a church deacon, a role he retired from in recent years due to declining health. His Sunday school class will miss his weekly warm greeting: "Good morning, good looking folks!" His family takes great comfort in picturing him stepping through the pearly gates, warmly greeting his fellow angels in that very same way.

Those who had the privilege of walking through life with Harold will remember a man who was exceptionally kind, gentle, humble, and soft-spoken. Yet, his quiet demeanor concealed a deep sensitivity to the world around him; he was remarkably attuned to the feelings and needs of others, always knowing exactly when to offer a reassuring word or a helping hand. Beyond his faith and family, he possessed a zest for life, a great sense of humor, and was a wonderful dancer.

Harold Puckett was one of a kind. He will always be in our hearts and a dearly missed, kind soul.

A service celebrating his life and faith will be held on July 21, 2026 at 11:00 am at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church, 4044 Fairport Road, Kittrell, N.C. Burial in the church cemetery will follow the service. Visitation will be July 20, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Sossamon Funeral Home, 106 Clement Avenue, Oxford, N.C. Flowers are accepted or a donation to Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church in Memory of Harold Puckett.
