Hazel H. Norwood
Hazel Elizabeth Hicks Norwood, 103, of 202 Walter Norwood Lane, Oxford, NC died Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Brantwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oxford.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Otho and Bessie Short Hicks. She was the widow of James Walter Norwood.
Mrs. Norwood was a homemaker, that worked many years on the family farm, while caring for her family and six sons. She was the oldest living member of Dexter Baptist Church and the Iola Greene Sunday School Class. In her 103 years, she saw more and lived through more than most of us could ever imagine. She was loved dearly by her family and friends and was a true example of what a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and neighbor should be. She loved everyone and not only showed that love in how she lived her everyday life, but made sure to tell you each and every time she saw you. She loved farming, flowers, candy, the color green, and feeding her cats.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., at Dexter Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Wayne Clark and Rev. Neil Woodlief. Burial will follow in Island Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
