Heidi Marie Wondra Mann, 65, of Stem, NC, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025, at her home.

Born on March 24, 1960, at Wyckoff Hospital in Brooklyn, she grew up in Ridgewood, Queens, with her parents, the late Joseph Wondra and Hildegard Kastner Wondra.

Heidi graduated from SUNY Albany in 1984 as a registered professional nurse (RN), initially working at Mount Sinai Hospital and later with the Gay Men's Health Crisis organization at Montefiore Medical Center as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS).

On April 29, 1989, she married James Francis Mann of Glendale, Queens, who would be her husband for the next thirty-eight years.

Although health issues prematurely ended her nursing career, Heidi had a passion for plants and became a master gardener with the Granville Gardeners in North Carolina. She will be especially remembered for her empathy and her deep passion for the natural world.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. However, the family will receive friends on Monday, June 16, 2025 from 12 noon to 3:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor.

Survivors include her husband, James Francis Mann; her daughter, Margaret Helen Abusharifah (Mobarak); and her son, Ryan Joseph Mann
