Helen Marie Barnes Evans, 91, of Henderson, NC, passed away Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Brantwood Nursing and Rehab Center.

Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Luther Hillman Barnes Sr. and Sue Helen Jones Barnes.

Mrs. Evans was a lifelong member of Westwood Pentacostal Holiness Church where she sang in the choir.

Surviving are one sister, Janet B. Short (Larry); two brothers, Bobby Barnes (Terry) and George Barnes (Dorothy); many nieces and nephews and other extended family members. Alongside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Thomas Evans; one son, Charlie Thomas "Charlie Buck" Evans Jr.; a sister, Mary B. Woodard; and two brothers, Wilmont F. Barnes, and Luther H. Barnes Jr.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson conducted by Pastor Daniel Blasky and Pastor Bobby Jackson. Interment will be private.
