In Loving Memory of Helen Luciena Grant Fields
April 10, 1947 – September 15, 2025

Helen means light. Luciena means light. True to her name, Helen was a bright light whose warmth and spark touched everyone around her.

Born in the Bronx, NY, Helen was the daughter of the late Robert H. Grant Jr. and Dorothy Emma Mencke. She was an artist at heart who played piano, sang, painted, worked with ceramics, sewed costumes and Easter outfits, wrote poetry, and found joy in cooking, reading, gardening, and Murder, She Wrote. She loved the holidays and made stunning handmade decorations. Her creativity ran through everything she did.

While living in Hawaii, Helen met the love of her life, Rev. Wayne B. Fields, Sr. Together they moved to Philadelphia, where they built a life and family grounded in love, faith, and resilience. Retirement later brought them to Henderson, where they built a new life as grandparents. Their home was often affectionately called "Camp Nana & Pop-Pop."

Helen gave her time generously, volunteering at the local food pantry where she cooked meals and delivered groceries to those who couldn't leave their homes. She lived her life with both compassion and fire, leaving behind memories that are as bold as they are tender. She was feisty, affectionate, and always willing to help—whether that meant sharing a meal, lending an ear, or lifting someone's spirits through song. She was also known for peppering conversations with her favorite phrase, "What you need to know is…" These qualities, and so many more, will be remembered with love by all who knew her.

Her greatest joys were her ice-cold Pepsi, her husband Wayne and their family. She is lovingly survived by her children: John (Yvonne), Peter (Stella), Lizz (Tristan), Wayne Jr. "Bobby," Nickole, Justin (Cristina), and Tommy; her grandchildren: Yasmien, Cheyenne, Ju-Ju, Haley, Seth, Mckenna, Christian, Spencer, Riley, Isa, Logan, Gabriel, and Nova; her siblings: Robert, Florence, Kenneth, Patricia, and Barbara; her best friend, Juanita; her wonderful neighbors; and a host of amazing friends and more family!

Though her presence will be deeply missed, her light endures in the faith she carried, the family she raised, and the joy she shared through her creativity and service.

The family will hold a private service at a later date.
