Helen Watkins Moore passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 3, 2026 at the Bridges on Parkview in Henderson.

Born in Vance County on May 4, 1931, she was the daughter of John C. Watkins, Sr. and Nannie R. Watkins of the Drewry Community.

Helen was employed by BB&T Bank in Littleton, NC for a number of years and later retired from Rose Oil Company in Henderson.

She loved making country ham rolls and her special chocolate meringue pies for her family and friends. A highlight of the Christmas Season was her annual Open House Party. Helen was an avid ballroom dancer and enjoyed going to dances in Wake Forest and Raleigh. She was a faithful member of Young Memorial Presbyterian Church in Drewry and served her church in many capacities.

She was predeceased by four sisters; Roberta W. King, Anne W. Potkonski, Lucille W. Wilson and Amy W. Whitmore, three brothers; John C. Watkins, Jr., George K. Watkins Sr., and James L. Watkins. She was also predeceased by her nephews George K. Watkins, Jr., Robert Watkins, and John C. Watkins III.

She is survived by six nieces and nephews; William D. (Billy) Watkins (Carolyn), Linda W. Kelly, Fred H. Wilson, Jr. (Mary Jo), Nancy W. Cannoy (Jimmy), Nash Whitmore, Lynn Whitmore, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at  11:00 am, on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Young Memorial Presbyterian Church 5169 Jacksontown Road Manson, NC by Dr. Ron Cava.

Memorials may be made in her honor to the Drewry Volunteer Fire Department, 125 Firefighter Drive, Manson, NC 27553.
