HENDERSON, NC — Henry Cheatham Dickerson Jr., 76, of Henderson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
Born to Henry C. Dickerson Sr. and Marguerite Dickerson, Henry was a devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rita A. Dickerson; his beloved spouse, Cathy Kellogg; and two grandsons, Josh and Michael Dickerson.
Henry is survived by his children: Chip Dickerson (Christine), Scott Dickerson (Brandi), Lisa Campbell (Jay), Jonathan Dickerson (Patricia), and Brooks Dickerson. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Austin Smith (Erin), Dusty Smith, Morgan Smith, Jonathan Dickerson (Megan), Megan Hux (Cameron), Sterling Dickerson, Cameron Dickerson, and Jesse Dickerson; and his great-grandson, Jaxson Hux. Henry was also deeply fond of his two bird dogs, Forrest and Gump, who brought him immense joy.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sue Woodell for her unwavering love, compassion, grace, and friendship during Henry's illness.
A graveside service to honor Henry's life will be held at Sunset Gardens by Pastor Eddie Mauldin, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Following the service, the family invites friends and loved ones to a visitation and luncheon at the home of Jay and Lisa Campbell.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, in the hope that a cure for cancer will one day be found.
