Herman Corthell Price Jr., 75, longtime resident of Creedmoor, NC passed away April 8, 2024 at Duke's Hock Family Pavilion Hospice in Durham due to complications from cancer of the pancreas.

Herman was born on December 19, 1948 in Lexington County, S.C. to post war USC student Herman C. Price and mother Sallie Josephine Dixon Price. He moved to Creedmoor in 1957 when his father became pharmacist and co-owner of Creedmoor Drugs. He graduated from South Granville High School and then received a BS in Biology from Atlantic Christian College (now Barton) in Wilson, NC. He continued to resided in Creedmoor until his death.

From 1975 to his retirement in 2016, Herman worked as Technical Supervisor and Senior Scientist performing long term bioassay studies and inhalation studies for toxicity and carcinogenicity at ManTech Environmental Technology and Northrop Services in the Research Triangle Park. His  greatest pleasure was fishing and relaxing on the Pungo river in Belhaven, NC where he owed a vacation home.

In addition to his parents, Herman was preceded in death by his long time friend and companion Janice Mae Gardner. He is survived by his sister Carolyn P. Wooten, (husband Dennis) of Franklinton, brothers Michael W. Price (wife Cindy deceased) and Dwight F. Price of Creedmoor. He will be sorely missed by a niece and 3 nephews and their 7 children.

Herman requested no visitation or services. The cremation interment will be at the Dixon Family Cemetery, 1850 Piney Grove Church Road, Kenly, NC. The time and date has not yet been specified.
