Hilda Elaine Taylor Barbee, 83, of Norlina, NC passed away on Friday, August 14, 2026 at Maria Paraham Health.

Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Johnny F. Taylor and Ila Blanche Creech Taylor.

Mrs. Barbee was a member of Cokesbury Global Methodist Church. She was an avid flower lover and looked forward to feeding her local birds every day. The family invites you to send flowers to them in her honor that they can be planted in the family garden.

Surviving are one son, Darrell Barbee (Beth); one daughter, Cindy Norwood (Michael); seven grandchildren, Allan Barbee (Erin), Phillip Barbee (Meghan), Lauren Crabtree (Phil), Tyler Crabtree (Kayla), Kelly Wilson (Caleb), Rebecca Norwood (Cody), and Samantha Norwood; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Wilson, Cade Barbee, Gabriella Aprico, and Callum Barbee; one nephew , Greg Taylor (Diane); one great-nephew, Geremy Taylor (Lacey); and many cousins and other extended family members. Alongside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, and one brother, James Taylor.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Cokesbury Global Methodist Church conducted by Rev. Michael Edmondson and Rev. Mark Stephens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. and for all other times at the home of Michael and Cindy Norwood.
