Hilda S. Smallwood

Hilda Ann Setzer Smallwood 85, passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends.

Born in Bertie County, she was the daughter of the late Ray Ervin Setzer Sr. and Mary Strange Setzer. She was the widow of Freddie "Paul" Smallwood.

She was a member of Celebrations Church in Oxford.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, conducted by Jamie Elliott.

Survivors include one sister, Patsy Setzer; two brothers, Ray Ervin Setzer Jr (Cathy) and Bennett "Benny" Setzer (Vickie); as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Vera Setzer; one brother-in-law, Ray Walker; one niece, Phyllis Walker; and one nephew Kelly Setzer.

The family would like to thank Duke Hospice for the loving care that they provided Hilda.
