Hildegard Agathe Sauter, 80, passed away on Wednesday, 11 June 2024, at home after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born in Stuttgart-Bad Canstatt, Germany on 13 December 1943, to August Mistele and Johanna Mistele.
She married her husband Manfred Sauter in Heilbronn, Germany on 4 March 1967, and immigrated to the United States, living in Nashville, Tennessee and Raleigh, North Carolina before settling down in New Jersey, where she raised her children Michael Sauter and Alexandra Sauter Piepszak. She had an artistic spirit, making rugs, stained glass, pottery, and paintings, among many other things. She also loved to cook German spaetzle and maultaschen and would happily feed them to all comers.
A kind and generous person for all who knew her, she was pre-deceased by her husband in 2018 and is survived by her daughter Alexandra and her husband John Piepszak in the United States, her son Michael and his wife Allyson Benton and their two children, Annabel and Gwendolyn, in the United Kingdom, in addition to three siblings in Germany, Wolfgang Mistele, Elisabeth Stuber, and Michael Mistele.
