Obituary

Col H. Larry Elman, USAF Retired

H. Larry Elman, beloved husband, father, grandfather, veteran, educator, and keeper of the Dave Elman Hypnosis legacy, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, surrounded by friends and family.

The son of famed Hobby Lobby Radio star, and medical hypnosis pioneer Dave Elman and Pauline Elman, Larry grew up immersed in the world of medical hypnosis while also excelling in academics, service, and leadership.

A proud graduate of MIT, Larry served with distinction as a Colonel in the United States Air Force, an Aeronautical Engineer in the private sector, a Computer Professor and then embarking on a fourth career as a Certified Hypnosis Instructor, author, and international lecturer. Alongside his wife, Cheryl Elman, he co-founded the Dave Elman Hypnosis Institute, traveling the world to 17 countries to train thousands of hypnotists and ensuring his father's teachings would continue to impact future generations.

Larry is survived by his loving wife and best friend Cheryl; his children David (Julie), Elizabeth (Mohamed) and Jonathan and his five cherished grandchildren.

Known for his quick wit, intellect, and warmth, Larry was a gifted storyteller and historian who blended precision with humor and compassion and warmth. His students, colleagues, and friends will remember him as both a brilliant educator and a kind mentor whose influence reached across continents.

Family and friends are invited to gather with Cheryl at her home on Sunday, August 31, 2025, to celebrate (from 2-6 pm).

Arrangements are by Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson. Online condolences may be made at www.sossamonfuneralhome.com
