James Edward “Billy” Aiken, born September 4, 1937, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by the love of his family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, service, and devotion to those he held most dear.
Billy was the beloved son of Corrine Hursey and Edward "Bill" Aiken. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Tara Behenna, and siblings Jackie Forsythe, Eugene Aiken (Judy), and Diane Bryson, whose memory remained forever in his heart.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Gail Aiken; his daughter, Lisa Aiken; and his grandchildren, Kory Behenna (Courtney), Kirsten Solomon (Brad), and Ryan Behenna, who were among the greatest joys of his life.
Billy proudly served his country for 41 years with the North Carolina Army National Guard, retiring as a Chief Warrant Officer. His dedication to service was an important part of his life and legacy. He was an active member of Olive Grove Baptist Church, American Legion Post 161, and Creedmoor Masonic Lodge #499.
Billy along with his Wife, owned and operated Northside BallPark for 20 years. He was happiest outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, and raising his beloved goats & sheep. He loved his Duke Blue Devils, despite somehow raising Tarheel and Wolfpack daughters.
Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His unmistakable smile and contagious joy touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. Above all, he loved his family and gave his love freely and wholeheartedly.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
