James A. Broome

Rev. James Anthony "Tony" Broome, 67, of Henderson, N.C. passed away on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Maria Parham Health.

Born in York County, S.C., he was the son of Jimmie Ellis Broome and the late Jean Beam Broome.  He was the widower of Peggy Steed Broome.

He was a member of South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Pastor Tony started in the ministry in 1971, and in 2004 he started a Wednesday Morning Service at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, where the focus was on Senior Adults that were unable to attend night services, he was an excellent teacher as well as a Licensed Minister.  He had several years of background in Christian Radio which he loved ministering to.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and the Rev. Mark Richardson.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving, along with his father, are two sisters, Pam Dyar (Joseph) and Donna Adams (Allen), one brother, Jamie Broome (Julie), along with several nieces and nephews. Along with his mother and wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Broome.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.

Serving as pall bearers will be Chuck Ramsey, Wayne Franklin, Charles Fleming, Morris Batten, Wilson Sawyer, and Bruce Harp.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church, 905 Americal Road Henderson, NC  27537.
