James Howard "Bro" Currin, Jr., 83, of Grassy Creek, North Carolina passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, at Duke University Medical Center.
He was the son of the late James Howard Currin, Sr. and Aline Slaughter Currin. He is survived by his two daughters, Susan Currin Hiscocks and her husband, Tony, Julie Currin Overton and her husband, Larry, as well as his adored grandchildren, Tyler Overton, Sarah Hiscocks and Taylor Hiscocks. He is also survived by his brother, Cecil Currin (Lou) along with many nieces, nephews and extended family members who were very special to him.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Peggy Vaughan Currin, and his sister, Jean Currin Moore.
James was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church. He was retired from Burlington Industries in Clarksville, VA as well as a retired farmer. He was an avid collector of vintage items, and he always loved to tell a good joke.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 5, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Grassy Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Radford Frazier and Rev. Cameron Currin officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Other times they will be at the home of Tony and Susan Hiscocks at 2702 Dalton Mill Road, Bullock, NC.
