James Edward Hight, 81, of Franklinton passed away peacefully Saturday, January 25, 2025, with his friend Judy Sanders by his side.
Born in Granville County on October 16, 1943, he was the son of the late John Henry Hight and Thelma Ball Evans (Garland). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Creedmoor. Reverend Dan Hill and Reverend Ray Gooch will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Christian Church Cemetery.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Sherry Waite Reed (Edward); one stepson, Michael Waite (Tracy); one daughter-in-law, Cyndi Waite; eight grandchildren, Curtis Vick (Beth), Trevor Kennedy, Jonathan Reed (Megan), Matthew Reed (Autumn), Sean Waite (Anna), Ashley Waite, Logan Waite (Alexis) and Jodi Waite (Tay); fifteen great grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Bunn Hight; his stepfather, Garland Evans; one stepson, Joseph Lea Waite Jr.; one brother, John Felix Hight and one nephew.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
