James B. Ivey

James Billy Ivey Sr. 81, of Henderson, NC died Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at his home.

Born in Vance County on July 30, 1941, he was the son of the late James Willis Ivey and Vinnie Leah Barker Ivey.  He was the widower of Carolyn Griffin Ivey.

Billy was a member of Island Creek Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at Island Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Johnny Yount.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving is three daughters, Crystal I. Reeder, Kim I. Owen (Mike) and Janie Ann Ivey, two sons, Barney Eugene Ivey and James Billy Ivey Jr. (Kim); three sisters, Hazel I. Vaughan (Gene), Ann I. Guerrant (Bruce) and Pam Lee ("Chief"); twelve grandchildren, Angela Ivey, Cassie Ivey, Billy Joe Ivey, Jordan Ivey, Kristen Moss, Leah Fuller, Allie Reeder, Stacey Owen, Tabitha Owen, Kally Ivey, Billy Ivey III and Cody Owen; eleven great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one sister, Marie Reese; and one brother, Julian Ivey.

The family will receive friends on Thursday in the church fellowship hall from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. At other times they will be at Mr. Ivey's home.

Pallbearers will be James Billy Ivey Jr., James Billy Ivey III, Stacey Owen, Gene Washington, Gene Vaughan and "Chief".
