James "Jim"
Wrenn
April 13, 2026
James Austin "Jim” Wrenn, 63, of Oxford passed away Monday, April 13, 2026, at Duke University Hospital.
Born on March 30, 1963, in Person County, he was the son of the late James Robert Wrenn and Beatrice Ozellar Greenway. Jim was a man of deep faith, proud of his Baptist heritage, and was known to all as an awesome father and a devoted husband.
For many years, Jim served as a faithful employee and dedicated maintenance supervisor at Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner. A talented “home engineer,” he had a servant's heart and truly enjoyed the challenge of fixing anything for anyone who needed a hand.
Jim found his greatest joy in the outdoors. Alongside his wife, Robbie, and their boys, he spent years fishing, hunting, boating and embracing every opportunity to be in nature and to spend time with his family.
Jim will be remembered in a backyard memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at 210 Maplewood St., Oxford, NC 27565. Please feel free to come as you are and to wear orange to show support for AML.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Robbie Morgan Wrenn; one sister, Ruby Stine (Marty); one nephew, Chris Zook (Stephanie); one niece, Courtney Williams (Austin); one great nephew, Chris Zook Jr. “Allen”. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, “Peanut” and “Pepper” and numerous special nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, James Walter Wrenn “J.W.” and Morgan Adams Wrenn; his in-laws, James Propus and Jean Burwell Morgan and one niece, Lorrie Ann Zook.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jim’s memory to the Duke AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) Program. Please contact Duke Cancer Institute Development Office. 300 W. Morgan Street, Suite 1000, Durham, NC 27701, 919-385-3120. Please indicate that donations are in memory of James Wrenn.
