James Owen Newsome, 71, of Stem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Salisbury County, Maryland, he was the son of the late Joseph Newsome and Laura Nichols Newsome.

Surviving are one daughter, Stacey Lorraine Newsome. He was preceded in death by both his parents and his wife, Sandra Richardson Newsome.

A memorial service will be held by the family at a later date.
