James M Orr Sr

James Melvin "Karo" Orr Sr. 80, of Henderson, NC, passed away Friday, December 6, 2024, at VA Durham Healthcare.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Henry Andrew Orr and Carrie Lee Robinson Orr.

He proudly served his country in the US Army and attended South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., at Sossamon Funeral home Chapel in Henderson. Conducted by the Rev. Mark Richardson. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Janice Carter Orr; two sons, James Melvin Orr Jr. (Tonia) and Bobby Wayne Orr; two grandsons, Jamie Dakota Orr (Taylor) and Taylor Firtick (Ryan); four sisters, Margaret Orr Snead, Phyllis Orr Wingo (Sparky), Elizabeth Orr Thomas and Peggy Orr Stokes; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie Orr Baggett and Helen Marie Orr; and three brothers, Henry Andrew Orr Jr, Travis Newton Orr and Gerald Ray Orr.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
