The heavens declare the glory of God: And the firmament shows His handiwork.
PS 19:1
James Richard Populorum stepped into eternity October 25, 2024. He was born January 1, 1933 and was the oldest son of Harold George and Mary Eileen Campbell Populorum. He had a younger brother Robert Charles Populorum and younger sister Barbara Populorum Doud who both preceded him in death. After graduating from Purdue University with a Bachelors of Science degree, Jim joined the Navy and served for four years.
During his service he met and married Paula Horn July 5, 1958. Out of that union were born Julie Populorum Kennedy (Mike), Scott James Populorum (Shawna), Erin Michelle Heenan (Greg). Brigit Lynn Booth (Patrick), Sean Richard Populorum (Genevieve), 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Jim was a water enthusiast. He loved to sail and kayak on Kerr Lake and any other body of water he happened to be near. Jim enjoyed woodworking and invented and produced many different objects such as side tables, bread cutters, potato holders, wine pourers, snack trays, bird houses, etc. Besides raising his children, his greates achievement was building a single engine airplane from scratch.. Because of his interest in furthering medical education and research, Jim donated his body to the School of Medicine at Duke University.
The family wants to thank the Veterans Adminitration for the services they provided during his illness. The family also wants to thank the Henderson Fire Department for their service. How fortunate we are to have such caring, patient people!
At this time, funeral services have not been made since the family does not have his remains yet. The family will post information about a memorial service when that time comes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250-9916.
