Janet Garner Thomas 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at Brantwood Nursing Center in Oxford, NC, after a few years of declining health.
She lived most of her life in Creedmoor, NC with her late husband William "Billy" Cole Thomas. Janet worked for the State of North Carolina at Murdoch Developmental Center in Butner until her retirement. She was involved in many business ventures with her husband during their time together. She loved her family, and she loved music. She enjoyed playing her piano for the pure joy of it! She also loved watching and feeding her birds, especially the hummingbirds.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Creedmoor. Conducted by the Rev. Doug Vaughan. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Grace Garner; and one daughter, Becky Thomas Turner. She is survived by one daughter, Dawn T Armstrong (David); one son, W. Gary Thomas (Judy); three grandchildren, Megan W. Bizzell (Adam), Lauren T. Teague (Nicholas) and William A. Thomas (Nathalie); one sister, Ann G. Brinkley; and many other dear family and friends.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m.
