Obituary

Mary Jenene Pendry Morris, 78, was welcomed into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 2:30 PM on June 16, 2026, after an 18-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jenene was born on January 18, 1948, in High Point, NC, to the late Rachel Dalton Pendry and James Floyd Pendry.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband and best friend of 56 years, Michael Baron Morris, and her brother, Larry Pendry. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Snead (Val); her grandson and the apple of her eye, Dalton Snead; her brother, Jimmy Pendry (Gail); her sister, Judy Dobbins (Nathan); her sister-in-law, Betty Pendry and many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she dearly loved.

Jenene graduated from Southern High School in 1966. She built a long and dedicated career with CCB, Durham Technical Community College, and Burroughs Wellcome (GSK), where she worked for 36 years until her retirement.

A devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Creedmoor, NC, Jenene found joy in serving through the Team Kid program and Harvest Day. She cherished her Sunday School class, the “Truth Seekers,” and the friendships she formed there.

Jenene loved spending time with her grandson Dalton, who brought her endless joy. She enjoyed making people laugh, shopping, and being with family and friends. Some of her happiest moments were dinners, shopping trips, and beach and mountain getaways with her daughter Jennifer and their “tribe,” Lisa Wilmarth and Paige Seymore. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and wife, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. David Herman officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor. The family will receive friends Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Mettu and her team at Duke Cancer Center, the many friends and family who helped with appointments, her “special niece” Cheryl Dobbins Hege for her loving care in the final weeks, and her compassionate Hospice nurse, Tracy.

Serving as pallbearers are Jim Pendry, Jason Pendry, Richard Davis, Eric Hege, Sidney Lane and Andy Esser. Honorary pallbearers are Nathan Dobbins and Tommy Blackley.
