It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Jerry Pressley Porter, Jr. (Press) on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at his home in Oxford, NC.

Press was born on May 23, 1970 in New Hanover County.

He was loved and cherished by many family members including his mother, Linda Porter, his two daughters, Nataleigh Porter and Elizabeth Weary, his three sisters, Sarah Clayton (Lee), Kathy Reece (Joey) and Elizabeth Merrill (Ben), his aunt, Carol Worrell, and his uncle, Jimmy Porter; his nieces and nephews, Candice Stewart, Matthew Taylor, Joshua Taylor, Jordan Elliott, Jacob Taylor, Trey Merrill, Logan Merrill, and Carson Reece, as well as many great nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Pressley Porter.

His service will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Sossamon Funeral Home on 106 Clement Avenue in Oxford. Visitation will be at 11:00am with the memorial service following at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Press's honor to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Press bravely served his country in the Army from 1989 – 1992.  He filled every room with his kind spirit and amazing sense of humor.  He was generous, compassionate, and most of all brave.  He will be greatly missed by many.
