Jimmie Nelson Dennis, 65, of Bullock, North Carolina, passed away on September 18, 2026. He was born on October 2, 1960.

Jimmie was a deeply loved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. His passing leaves an immeasurable emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him. Although no amount of time with him could ever have been enough, his family will forever be grateful for the love, memories, and moments they were blessed to share with him.

Jimmie proudly served his country in the United States Army from October 23, 1979, until his honorable discharge on May 22, 1984. He attained the rank of Specialist Four and served as a watercraft operator with the 331st Transportation Company. During his military career, he was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Army Good Conduct Medal, and Expert Marksmanship Badge with M-16 Rifle Bar. His service to his country was an honorable and meaningful part of his life and legacy.

A true jack of all trades, Jimmie had a remarkable ability to build, repair, and create things with his own hands. There was rarely a project he could not tackle or a problem he could not find a way to solve. Music also held a special place in his heart, and he loved playing his guitar. He had a deep love for being on the water, which always felt like his second home. Whether he was working with his hands or spending time near the water, Jimmie was happiest doing the things he loved.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Tungsten Baptist Church. Conducted by Rev. Joe Don Cooper. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Arthur Dennis and Josephine Cora Dennis of Norfolk, Virginia; his sister, Linda Rae Dennis-Honeycutt of Durham, North Carolina; and his brother-in-law, Toby Garlan Howard of Bullock, North Carolina.

Left to carry his memory are his loving wife, Tracy Lyn Dennis of Bullock, North Carolina; his son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Clarissa Dennis of Louisville, Kentucky; his stepdaughters, Amanda Davis of Cape Coral, Florida, and Cassie Davis of Bullock, North Carolina; his brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Alisia Dennis of Chesapeake, Virginia; his brother-in-law, Brent Howard of Sophia, North Carolina; and his nephew and niece-in-law, Michael and Janet Lukasik of Hurdle Mills, North Carolina.

He also leaves behind seven beloved grandchildren, two nephews, three nieces, and many extended family members and friends who will miss him more than words can express.

Jimmie's life touched many others, but nowhere will his absence be felt more deeply than within his family. He was an important and irreplaceable part of their lives, and losing him has changed their world forever. While their hearts are broken, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the place he holds within their family can never be taken away.

Jimmie will be loved, remembered, and deeply missed always.
