Jimmy Starnce Lawrence, 82, of Southerland Mill Rd, passed Friday, October 24, 2025 at home. Born March 20,1943 in Smithfield, TN to Matthew and Vera Lawrence. He was a member of The Salvation Army for over 50 years. Jimmy was a loving husband to Betty Jean Lawrence for 54 years.

He was a retired business owner, owning and operating Lawrence Construction for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Jean, two sons, Scott (Felicia) Lawrence and Mike (Kim) Clopton, his grandchildren Ashley (Darryl) Ayers of the home, Lesley (Mike) Ellis, Lisa Clopton, Jamie Clopton, Jeffrey Clopton, Aron (Kate) Clopton, Heather (Chris) Sparks, Megan Clopton, Kristen Lawrence, and Brandon Lawrence, 14 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren all of Henderson. He is also survived by one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister, two children, Cindy Lawrence and Gill Clopton, and a daughter-in-law Norma Clopton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at The Salvation Army of Henderson conducted by Captain Rick Langley. The burial will follow in the family cemetery.

The family will receive friends Monday, October 27, 2025 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Betty Jean Lawrence, 985 Southerland Mill Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Lawrence, Mike Clopton, Brandon Lawrence, Aron Clopton, Colton West, Jordan Clopton, Jamie Clopton, and Ashten Bartley.
