Jimmy Y. Moss, 83, of Bullock, entered into his perfect and eternal home on May 24, 2026.
Jimmy grew up in the Tar River area of Granville County and was the youngest child of Carl Irwin Moss and Mary Lee Gordon Moss. Growing up, Jimmy was known to be a mischievous and beloved prankster. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his three brothers, Luther P. Moss, Roy G. Moss, Ted R. Moss and two sisters, Patsy M. Sanders and Rebecca M. Bell and one granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Walker.
After graduating from Wilton High School in 1960, Jimmy joined the U. S. Navy and was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, where he served for three years. The majority of his life he had a career in long distance truck driving, in which he would gladly inform you that he had driven over eight million miles, not only to Canada, but through 44 of the 50 United States, and all that was accomplished with just an Atlas. His final employment was driving for Walmart when he retired in 2005.
He was a faithful member of Bullock Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the Chancel Choir.
Jimmy loved being around people, socializing, was always quick-witted and full of jokes and never met a stranger or was short on words.
He is survived by his wife, Marian N. Moss, his two daughters, Sherri L. Bowen (Clarence “Lennie”) and Melissa L. Moss (Larry W. Newby), all from Bullock; two step-children Mical L. Seaton (Rebeka Rusch), and Michelle S. Butler (Robert); both from Chesapeake, Virginia.
Affectionately named “Goddie”, he was Grandfather to Ashley, Jennifer, Haley (Jesse), Kenneth “K.C.”, Jacob (Danielle), Brooke, Jeffrey (Sydney), Jeremy (Kristina) and Haley and his adored great grandchildren, Aidan, Samantha, Cora, and Harper.
The family wishes to thank all of the special caregivers who entered Jimmy's life and took exceptional care of him.
Services will be held at Bullock Baptist Church on Friday, May 29, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1 pm followed by the service at 2 pm, conducted by Pastor Gus Gillespie. Graveside service will be at Royster Family Cemetery, followed by a fellowship in the Family Life Center at Bullock Baptist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Kenneth Combs, Jr., Jacob LeCompte, Ashley Moss, Jennifer Walker, Haley Beland, Jeremy Butler, Jeffrey Butler, Brooke Seaton and Haley Butler.
