John L. Parks Jr.

John Littleton Parks Jr., 95, of Henderson, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late John Littleton Parks Sr and Lalla Blanks Parks. He was the widower of Anne Marie Woodlief Parks.

Johnny was employed for many years with the Legg-Parham and M.F. Legg Cotton Gin. He later worked with International fertilizer Company and with the Vance County Mental Health Department, in the Alcohol & Drug Abuse Department until his failing health required him to retire. Most recently he was associated with "Anne's Treasures", a wholesale-retail business, until his wife's retirement in 1992.

As a hobby, Johnny continued his interest in photography, birdwatching and collecting. He was an avid collector of paperweights, bottles and advertising memorabilia. He was known for his extensive knowledge of collectibles and was a member of the Richmond Area Bottle Club, The Federation of Bottle Collectors and the Paperweight Collectors Association of America.

He was a longtime member of Plank Chapel United Methodist Church.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 18, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Henderson. Conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.

Survivors include his best friend, Billy Watkins; one sister-in-law, Fayma Roberts; one brother-in-law, R.O. Woodlief (Agnes); and a very special caregiver, Bobbie Stegall. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, John Littleton Parks III; two sisters, Ann Parks Nesbitt and Frances Pauline "Polly" Parks; and a best friend, Paul Daeke.

The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the service.
