It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father and husband, Jonathan Pete Mixon, of Creedmoor, NC, who peacefully departed this life on May 5th, 2025, at the age of 68, following an extended battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Durham, North Carolina, on October 4th, 1956, as the fourth son of George and Alta Mixon, Jon was a true supporter of his family and a devoted child of God. Throughout his life, he never strayed far from the Bull City, though work and travels sometimes took him well away from his birthplace.

A devoted and loving husband to Janie for just shy of 50 years, and a loving father to Kevin and Chris, Jon was well known for his ardent support of the Duke Blue Devils, fervent love of country, willingness to converse with anyone, and unwavering belief in faith and family.

He is survived by his wife, Janie Mixon; his sons, Kevin (Jaime) Mixon of Corpus Christi, TX and Christopher Mixon of Creedmoor, NC; his brothers, George "Neil" (Evelyn) Mixon of Chesapeake, VA and Kent (Deborah) Mixon of Durham, NC; his granddaughter Brianna McClellan of Wake Forest, NC; nieces and nephews Kim Mills, Jeff (Amanda) Mixon, Kristi (Justin) Nobers, William (Lisa Amundson) Mixon, and Robert (Kate) Mixon; as well as five grand nieces and nephews, and innumerable cousins that he maintained close contact with. He will be sorely missed by his loving family and all those who knew and loved him.

Jonathan was preceded in death by both of his parents and his beloved brother William.

A celebration of life will be held in Jonathan's honor at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor, NC.
