Joseph Jonah Milton, 86, of the Wilton Community in Granville County departed this world on February
13, 2024. He passed away surrounded by his family following his third battle with cancer.

Born in Granville County Joe was the son of the late Jonah Gray Milton and Nona Marie Elliott. He was
preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Milton, his sister, Mary Lunsford, and nephews, Michael
Frazier, Glenn Lunsford and Wayne (Donut) Milton.

Joe was a farmer his entire life. He also retired from Murdoch Center in Butner where he worked third
shift for 30 years as a health care technician and supervisor. Joe served nine years in the NC National
Guard. He loved his family, working the farm on his tractor, boating and camping at Kerr Lake,travelling
and riding horses. Joe especially loved riding horses with friends and family in Moses Cone National
Park near Blowing Rock, NC. He was a dedicated member of Providence Baptist Church where he served
as a deacon and a trustee. He was truly a good, gentle and quiet man who will be missed by everyone
he leaves behind.

Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years Judy Cole Milton, daughters Renee May (Mike) and LeAnn Milton,
grandchildren Sarah May, Alan May, Kaylee Cox, Colton Cox and Alyssa Miller one great grandson,
Mateo Parada, adopted daughter Michelle Miller and her five children, sister Brenda Frazier, brothers,
Donald Milton and Wade Milton and many nieces and nephews as well as extended family.

Funeral services will be held Saturday February 17 at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church located at
4603 Old NC 75 in Oxford, NC with Pastor William Wheeler officiating. The family will receive guests at
the church from 12:00 PM to 01:45PM before the service as well and at other times at the family home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations may be made to Providence Baptist Church c/o
Tonya Perry, Treasurer at 2551 Ace Drive Oxford, NC 27565. Please place Joe's name on the memo line.
