It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joey Wright, who passed away on August 12, 2026. Joey will be remembered as a hardworking, mechanically gifted man whose life was defined by his love for his family, his dedication to his work, his passion for the outdoors and his compassion for animals.

Joey’s mechanical ability became apparent at a very young age. At just 13 years old, he began working at Al Farmer’s Service Station in Bowling Green, Virginia, pumping gas and performing small engine repairs. What began as a young boy's natural talent and curiosity grew into a lifelong career and a reputation for being someone who truly knew his way around anything mechanical.

Joey dedicated the last 27 years of his working life to Triangle Equipment Companies, where he served as the Service Manager for all of their store locations. His knowledge, experience, dedication and strong work ethic made him an important part of the company. His career was more than simply a job – it was a reflection of the mechanical talent and hardworking nature he had carried with him since childhood.

Outside of work, Joey had a lifelong love for hunting and the outdoors. He began hunting at a very young age, and it remained an important part of his life. Even more meaningful to Joey, was having the opportunity to share that passion with younger generations. He took pride in teaching children the love, respect, responsibility and safety of the sport, passing along the knowledge and traditions that had meant so much to him throughout his own life.

Joey also had an incredible love for animals, especially cats and dogs. He had a soft spot for animals that needed someone to care for them and believed strongly in rescuing animals in need. His compassion for them was simply another reflection of the caring heart he carried with him throughout his life.

Joey is survived by his loving wife, Susan C. Wright; his granddaughter, Ashby F. Wright and his sister, Donna Patterson (Stuart), along with extended family, friends, coworkers and the many people whose lives he touched throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Shawn K. Wright; his parents and his siblings, Kelly and Paul.

Joey leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured simply by the years he worked or the things he accomplished. His legacy lives on through the knowledge he shared, the children he taught, the animals he rescued, the traditions he passed down and most importantly, the memories he made with the people who loved him.

Those fortunate enough to have known Joey will remember his incredible mechanical talent, his dedication and work ethic, his love for hunting and the outdoors, his compassion for animals and the love he carried for his family.

Though Joey will be deeply missed, the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the memories he created will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life honoring Joey will be held Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at 2632 NC-96, Franklinton, NC 27525. Family and friends are invited to gather together to remember Joey, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to so many.
