Joyce M Perkinson

Joyce Matthews Perkinson 71, of Warrenton, NC, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late David Thomas Matthews Sr and Ann Vivian Tillotson Matthews.

She was a long-time member of Macon Baptist Church where she enjoyed keeping the nursery. She was also a member of the Olga Hood Missionary Circle and the Ladies Auxiliary of Hawtree Vol. Fire Dept. For 17 years she was an intricate employee of Crop Production Services ("The Fertilizer Plant"), and later retired as an administrative assistant from Banzet, Thompson, Styers & May. Joyce enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a devoted wife and supported her husband managing his pig farm. She loved her children and especially loved being a grandma.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 5, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Wise Baptist Church 1840 US-1, Norlina, NC. Conducted by Rev. Ben Williams and Rob Evans.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-two years, Royce Taylor Perkinson; one daughter, Heather Perkinson; one son, Bradley Perkinson (Jill); five grandchildren, Jordan, Devin, Emory Perkinson, Owen Perkinson and Anderson Perkinson; two sisters, Brenda M Wheeler (James) and Betsy M Clayton (Jimmy); one brother, David T Matthews Jr (Connie); one sister-in-law, Gale Perkinson; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Ronnie Perkinson.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at Sossamon Funeral Home of Henderson from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. At other times they will be at the home.
