June Ellington Daniel, 85, of Tom Hunt Road, Oxford, NC went home to be with her Lord on Monday, November 6, 2023.

She was a native of Vance County born June 30, 1938 and the daughter of the late Batt and Irma Frazier Ellington of Henderson, NC.  She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church and prior to that she was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she taught Children's Sunday School at both churches. The Daniel family farmed tobacco for many years. June's husband drove a semi truck, and when he was away she would lead the farm workers. During the off season, she worked as a seamstress retiring with over 40 years of service.

She loved her Lord, family, church and friends. She loved her husband deeply and loved raising their four children with him. She also dearly loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved cooking for her friends and family and hand-making gifts for them. June treated people with respect and kindness and because of this, everyone who knew her loved her.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 10th at Sossamon Funeral Home 106 Clement Ave Oxford, NC 27565 officiated  by Pastor Carl Hunter. Burial will follow in Meadowview Memorial Park in Oxford, NC.

June leaves in her great legacy her daughter, Sandra Yancey (Dale) of Creedmoor, NC, two sons, Dennis Daniel (Vicki) and Todd Daniel of Oxford, NC, five grandchildren, Denise Edmonds (Davis), Tammy Stevens (Shawn), Jerry Stevens (Missy), Bryan Yates, and Amy House (Linwood); eleven great-grandchildren; one sister, Katherine E. Russell of Middlesex, NC; four sisters-in law, JoAnn Ellington of Lugoff, SC; Christine Hicks of Youngsville, NC;  Nell Wallace (Tommy), Brenda Brogden of Oxford, NC and brother-in-law, Billy Fuller of Clarksville, VA.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband, Darious B. Daniel, a son, Kevin A. Daniel, a brother, Stewart M. Ellington; a sister, Cornelia S. Ellington, a brother-in-law, Francis B. Russell.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 1:00-2:00 PM at Sossamon Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Dennis Daniel.
