Kathleen "Cassie"
Farrelly
October 2, 2023
Kathleen "Cassie" Swift Farrelly (Swift)
Oxford, NC - Kathleen "Cassie" Swift Farrelly, lovingly known as Cassie, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2023, at the age of 75 after a ten-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on June 11, 1948, in Republic, PA, to the late Myrtle Casserly Swift and Harry Wesley Swift. She is survived by siblings Harriette Hickle and Tom Swift.
Cassie was a loving mother and grandmother who brought joy and creativity to her family's lives. She had a witty and vibrant personality that drew in nearly everyone she met. Cassie had a passion for women's (and men's) soccer and enjoyed crafting in her spare time. Family was of utmost importance to her, and she cherished the moments spent with her husband of 53 years, Eugene Vincent Farrelly, their daughters Maura Jane, Megan Kathleen (Peter Vinick), and their son Eugene Matthew (Amber Joplin). Cassie also adored her grandchildren, Jack, Bridget, Anna, Elise, and Samuel.
Cassie pursued higher education at Gettysburg College, where she cultivated a love for learning that was passed on to all her children. She was a voracious reader who valued knowledge and embraced opportunities for personal growth. She majored in music and joined the Gettysburg Choir on a 14-nation singing tour that was re-routed to Turkey after one of the nations on the tour, Egypt, became involved in the Six Days War in 1967. Before retiring, Cassie had a successful career as an accountant in central Pennsylvania for many years.
Cremation services have been provided by the Sossamon Funeral Home in Oxford, NC. The family is having a celebration of life on Sunday, October 8 from 1pm-5pm at their residence on College Street in Oxford. Friends and family are welcome.
The family appreciates the support and condolences during this difficult time. We extend our deepest sympathies to Cassie's family and friends. May her soul find eternal peace.
