Kevin Edward Byrd
4/21/1971 – 8/20/2023
Kevin Edward Byrd, age 52, passed away at his home in Baxley, GA on August 20, 2023
Kevin was born in Melbourne, Florida on April 21st, 1971, to Shirley Mangum Byrd and Larry Edward Byrd (US Navy retired), living the first two years of his life in Satellite Beach, FL during a military tour of duty.
Kevin attended South Granville High School in Creedmoor, NC. He joined the Army and after completing basic training and AIT school, then committing to the NC National Guard. Kevin was raised, and lived in Creedmoor, NC, but lived in Georgia later in life near his Georgia family.
He worked in Auto Parts, Construction, Pipe Fitting, Welding and Lawn Care. Due to nerve and back injuries and several surgeries, Kevin ultimately had to retire early due to disabilities.
Kevin often said the best things in his life were his children and they were his pride and joy. He was so thankful, and proud, of the awesome adults they had become and loved to talk about them to his friends. He never met a stranger and will always be remembered for his outgoing personality. He liked to put a smile on your face and brighten your day. He loved unconditionally and was always trying to help those less fortunate.
Kevin is survived by his children: Morgan Paige Byrd and Justin Edward Byrd (Tracy C. Byrd-mother) of Franklinton, NC, Mother: Shirley M. Hayes (Ken) of Harker's Island, NC, Father: Larry E. Byrd (Peggy-deceased) of Moultrie, GA, a brother: Gary W. Byrd, Sr. (Pam) of Creedmoor, NC, sister: Gina H. Samia (Paul) of Wake Forest, NC, special nephews: Gary W. Byrd, Jr. (Callie) and Joshua D. Byrd (Kalie); several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, and Nephews in NC and GA. Also, those that treated him as "family" in Baxley, GA.
A "Celebration of Life" is being planned for a later date in NC.
