Larry Wayne Bennett, 88, a resident of 2635 W. Lyon Station Rd., Creedmoor, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on January 2, 2025, at his home.
Born October 29, 1936in Summerfield, NC, he was the son of the late Dowell McCoy Bennett and Maurine Friddle Bennett.
Larry was of the Baptist faith. He was the former owner of Creedmoor Fuel Service for forty years. Larry served twenty-two years in the North Carolina National Guard and was a Master Mason.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Creedmoor. Reverend Willis Herman will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Porterfield of Henderson, Kathy Adcock (Robert) of Oxford and Kelly Slaughter (Kirk) of Henderson; two stepchildren, Linton Peed (Toni) and Christina Peed Goodwin (Bennie); four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three step grandchildren and one sister, Linda B. Freeman of Creedmoor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Bennett, his wife, Darlene Peed Bennett and Marion White Bennett (mother of his children).
The family will receive friends Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor.
