Martha LaRue Blinson Daniel, 79, of Butner passed away peacefully Sunday, December 11, 2022, at her home with her family by her side.

LaRue was born on November 23, 1943, in Wake County to Warren Walter Blinson and Patsy LaRue Corbett.

LaRue was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Butner where she began playing the piano and organ at the age of 12. In her later years, while serving as the church organist, she also enjoyed teaching piano lessons and directing the handbell choir. She often arranged her own music and was known to put her "own spin" on many traditional Baptist hymns.

LaRue worked for many years as a family nurse practitioner and was an avid UNC fan after completing her FNP degree there.  Many in the Butner community considered her their "doctor on call" as they reached out to her for medical advice.  She worked 30 years at John Umstead Hospital and subsequently worked 5 years at Durham Regional Hospital before retiring to more fully enjoy her music, dote on her grandchildren, make jewelry, crochet, and spoil her family with her culinary creations.

The family will receive friends Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 12:30-1:45 pm at First Baptist Church of Butner.  Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 pm and will be officiated by Reverend Charlie Bryan.  Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Gardens.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Donald T. Daniel, Sr.; two sons, Marty Daniel (Mary) and Don Daniel, Jr. (Jackie); two grandchildren, Lauren Daniel and Don Daniel, III; two step-grandchildren, Nicholas G. Adcock and Harrison M. Watts. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren Walter Blinson and Patsy LaRue Corbett; sister, Audrey Benson.

While flowers are welcome, memorials may be made in her honor to First Baptist Church of Butner, 200 West B Street, Butner, NC 27509.
