Laverne Dement Seagroves, 82, of Creedmoor passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.
Born in Durham County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Helen Dement.
Laverne retired from Duke University Medical Center, Department of Community and Family Medicine after thirty-six years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Creedmoor.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor with Pastor James Shelley officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Durham.
Survivors include her loving husband, former Creedmoor Chief of Police, Ralph D. Seagroves; two daughters, Renee S. Glenn (Michael) and Lisa S. Clark (Buddy); two grandsons, John Michael Glenn (Ashley) and Brandon Scott Glenn (Heather); four great grandchildren, Praley, Caroline, Colt and Jack and two sisters, Peggy Harris (Eugene) and Rita Rackley (Eddie). Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Tommy Dement.
The family will receive friends Friday, February 16, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor and other times at the home.
Pallbearers for the service will be Michael Alan Glenn, Alfred L. Clark "Buddy", John Michael Glenn, Brandon Scott Glenn, Timothy Craig Harris, and Reverend Edwin Robert Rackley.
