Lee Garner Sharron, 83, of Oxford passed away peacefully, Sunday, October 4, 2026, at his home.
Born in Granville County on April 25, 1943, he was the son of the late Willie Lee Sharron and Henretta B. Weary Sharron.
LG proudly served in the U.S. Army, entering active duty in July 1961 as a Field Artillery Rocket Crewman. He completed Hawk Missile Fire-Control Crewman training at Fort Bliss. During his military service, he earned the Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Qualification with the M-1 Rifle and Carbine, the Driver Badge, and Sharpshooter qualification with the Carbine In 1963, he transferred to the Army Reserve Control Group to complete his service obligation in 1967. After returning to Granville County, LG joined the Oxford Fire Department where he served 44 years as a volunteer firefighter. LG’s life was rooted in family and in the Granville County community he called home. He started working at Burlington Industries, then General Processes, and later Revlon, where he worked as a machine mechanic and retired after more than 30 years of service. LG loved fast cars, took pride in caring for his yard and his neighbors’ yards. You could often find him on his riding mower or washing cars. His family and friends will cherish those memories.
Survivors include three daughters, Teresa Bryan (John), Jennifer Allen (Brian), Diana Englebright (Brandon), all of Oxford; one son, David Sharron (Tina) of Charlotte; seven grandchildren, Jacey Bryan, Haley Sharron, Jordan Englebright, Kaley Englebright, Zayne Allen, Ellie Bryan and Payton Englebright; one brother, Harvey Sharon and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Edith "Carol" Woodlief Sharron; one brother, Clinton Terrell Sharron; sister, Eva Jane Rose.
The family will receive visitors at 1:00 p.m. prior to service.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Oxford. Rev. Bruce Beck will officiate. Interment will follow at Meadowview Memorial Park
Special thanks to all the caregivers who have been with him for the last several months as you have been angels.
