Leonard Michael Zbonack

Leonard Michael Zbonack, 99, of Creedmoor, NC, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at the Durham VA Health Care.
Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Michael J. Zbonack and Bertha U. Gutusky and a loving husband to his late wife Catherine (McIntyre).

Leonard was a Veteran who served in World War II for 3 years 3 months; 33 months overseas, earning battle stars for the campaigns of New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago and the Philippines. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific theater ribbon, the Philippine Liberation ribbon, the Victory ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.

He graduated from Seton Hall with a Bachelor's degree and proceeded to work in NYC in newspaper advertising.
In 1966 he acted on his passion for motorcycles and ventured with his family of 5 on a 5,400-mile trip around the United States. Later, he and his motorcycle traveled the world country by country, pitching a tent along the way and trying a local beer at every destination.
He was a member of the Ramapo Motorcycle Club in Rockland County, NY and most recently a member of Carolina Wings in Durham, NC.

He is survived by one daughter; Kitty Mann, two sons; Jon Zbonack, Guy Zbonack, two daughter in-laws; Kaye Zbonack and Lisa Zbonack, seven grandchildren; Kathleen Mann, Lynea Zbonack, Megan Keogh, Katie Mann, Jenna Ingenito, Tanya Pasquale, Natalia Kerr, along with eight great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son; Glenn Zbonack.

A visitation will be held Saturday, February 3, 2024, 11am at Sossamon Funeral Home of Creedmoor located at 834 N. Main Street Creedmoor, NC.
