Linda
Stevens
September 13, 1960 – April 21, 2026
The flowers I planted still will grow,
Their petals bright in morning’s glow.
Though I must leave, my work remains,
In every bud that feels the rain.
Linda Ellington Stevens was a nurturer. As the youngest of eleven of Mary and Clyde Ellington’s children, she valued family and spent her life nurturing her family and countless others through her prayers, kind words, helpful spirit, and generosity.
Linda was born September 13, 1960. She graduated from Vance Senior High School and built a life in Henderson, NC. She served in many roles throughout her life, most prevalently as a teacher, mother, and caregiver for her mother in late life. She loved to laugh, cook for her family, fill her home with sweet scents of delicious food, and work in her garden. God blessed Linda with a green thumb and she shared her abilities and passion for flowers with others. Most everyone who knew Linda received sprigs or roots from flowers from her garden; these roots and flowers continue to serve as reminders of Linda’s love, spirit, and connection to something deeper in this life and beyond.
Though Linda’s life was too short, her impact was resounding. Her life legacy will continue to be remembered and celebrated by her two sons (Kyle and Jonathan Fox), daughter-in-law (Valerie Fox), three grandchildren (Bronson, Mavis, and Margeaux), siblings, nieces and nephews, and friends.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at 11 am at West Oxford Baptist Church, 627 Hillsboro St, Oxford, NC 27565 conducted by Pastor Bruce Beck. Following the service, a light luncheon will be held at the church for all to join to celebrate Linda and connect with one another in her memory.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Duke Brain Aneurysm Fund in gratitude for the care that helped give us more time together, or to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation to help others facing similar journeys.
