Lora Annette Collier, 82, of Henderson passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026, at her home on Ruin Creek Road. Born October 23, 1943, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin West and Lessie Faulkner West.
Lora Ann grew up mostly in Warren County and attended John Graham High School. She retired after 31 years at Americal Corp. in Henderson, NC. She had many passions, namely attending South Henderson Church of God and making sure that anyone who came to her home was greeted with the warmest welcome. She loved to travel with her husband, visiting 45 states, Canada, and Mexico. She especially loved flying when visiting her daughter and two grandsons while they lived in Vancouver, WA.
After high school, she married Lee "Pete" Collier, who was in the Army at the time, and they made their home in Lawton, OK. After he was discharged, they settled in Portsmouth, VA, later moving to Tucson, AZ, before returning to Henderson, NC. After both she and Lee retired, they lived out one of their greatest wishes, to live in the mountains of NC, and bought a cabin in Maggie Valley. There they enjoyed what seemed like a five-year-long honeymoon before moving to their home in Henderson, NC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin West and Lessie Faulkner West, and her three brothers, Clarence West, A.T. West, and Bennie West.
She is survived by her husband, Lee "Pete" Collier; her two sisters, Fay West and Jean Beck; her daughter, Vicki Collier Rose; and her two grandsons, Drew Rose and Ben Rose.
Her funeral will be held Thursday, June 11, 2026, at South Henderson Church of God, located at 125 J.P. Taylor Rd, Henderson, NC 27537. The viewing will be at 1 p.m. and the service at 2 p.m., with burial to follow at Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Funeral officiants will be Pastor Mark Bateman and Pastor Alan Greene of Thomasville Church of God.
