Louis “Buck” Irvin LaFoon, 91, of Creedmoor, NC, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Hock Family Pavilion.
Born in Hanover County, Virginia, on April 4, 1935, he was the son of the late Harold Irvin LaFoon, and Evelyn Delarue LaFoon.
Buck retired from Virgina Power after 39 years of service. He loved his family, playing golf, the Boston Red Sox, and going out to eat (especially with his breakfast gang). Loved by many for his sense of humor, quick wit, and conversational skills, he will be missed by his family, relatives, and friends. Buck dearly loved his wife, Peggy, and daughters, Pam and Dreama. One of his favorite past times was spending time with and picking on his grandkids with whom he was especially proud. If he was picking on you, you knew he cared.
Surviving are two daughters, Pamela Bartholomew (Jay), and Dreama Cullipher (Jimmy); four grandchildren, Logan Bartholomew (Clara), Dakota Bartholomew, Luke Cullipher, and Kara Cullipher. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Evans LaFoon; one sister, Marie Cassell; and one brother, Murrell LaFoon.
The family would like to thank the staffs from Rockbridge Senior Home Living, Durham Regional Hospital, Hillcrest Convalescent Center, and Hock Family Pavillion for both their compassion and care.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home in Creedmoor conducted by Rev. Keith Sexton. Interment will immediately follow the service at Carolina Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Christian Church 301 South James St. Ashland, VA 23005, Creedmoor United Methodist Church, 214 Park Ave. Creedmoor, NC 27522, or Duke HomeCare & Hospice Office of Development (Hock Family Pavillon), 12 Moore Drive, Suite 200 Durham, NC 27713.
