Louise Peoples Smiley, 88, of Henderson, NC passed away on Wednesday, October 8. 2025 at a local nursing home.

Born in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Oza Woodlief Peoples and Joseph Fenner Peoples.  She was the widow of Thomas Smiley.

She was a member of Westwood Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She was very active in her church and her community.  She enjoyed singing in the choir at church and helping others.  She loved music, especially fast Southern gospel songs.  She also enjoyed fishing, shopping and softball.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel in Henderson, conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon.  Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving is one daughter, Connie S. Harp (Chris); two granddaughters, Candice H. Gervase (Peter) and Christina Harp, two great-grandchildren, Emily Gervase and Leah Gervase; two sisters, Betty Raynor and Joyce Vaughan; and a brother-in-law, Woody Parrish Jr. And many nieces and nephews and extended family.  Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Sonny Peoples and Joe Peoples and two sisters, Judy Parrish and Geraldine Cheek,

The family wishes to give a special "Thank You" to the staff at Henderson Nursing and a "Special Thanks" to Gladys Fields, Jeanetta Hawley and Linda Hobson who loved and took such good care of her.

The family will receive friends Monday, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Sossamon Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Gene Raynor, Barry Raynor, Jeff Devine, W.C. Vaughan, Dustin Peoples and Wesley Peoples.
