Lowell A. West Sr.

Lowell Andrew (Don) West Sr., 83, of Henderson, NC died Thursday, December 8, 2022 at his home.

Born in Vance County on October 14, 1939, he was the son of the late Virginia Abbott and Benjamin Joseph West.

Don retired as Sales Manager with the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Henderson, he was an avid reader, a wonderful story teller and loved telling a good joke.  He was a former volunteer with the Vance County Fire and EMS Department, and was retired with fifty years of service with the Vance County Rescue Squad.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., in the Sossamon Funeral Home Chapel of Henderson, conducted by Pastor Jamie Elliott.

Surviving is his wife of sixty-one years, Jean Roberson West; one daughter, Anna West Lee (Mike), two sons, Lowell A. West Jr. (Ellen) and Mark A. West (Barbette); two sisters, Judy W. Lee and Carolyn W. Harris and one brother, Wade West; five grandchildren, Olivia Lee, CC Lee, Kristen W. Reddy (Chetan), Lowell A. West III and Morgan Carey.  He was preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia W. Ellis and Hazel W. Delbridge and five brothers, Benjamin D. West, James D. West, Charles West, Joseph E. West and Bobby M. West.

The family will receive friends Saturday, from 1:00-2:00 p.m., at Sossamon Funeral Home.  All other times, they will be at his home.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be all members of the Vance County Rescue Squad.

Flowers are to be omitted, and memorials may be made to the Vance County Rescue Squad 1735 Maynard Street Henderson, NC  27536.
