Lucille Oakley Adcock, 96, of Berea passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on July 5, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.
Born in Person County, on August 14, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Fred Oakley and Frankie Clayton Oakley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Adcock and her sister, Gertrude Oakley Satterwhite.
Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved cooking and gardening, and she especially enjoyed sharing her homemade dishes.
She is survived by her son, E.G. Adcock Jr. of Berea, and her daughter, Rae Adcock Irvine of Southern Pines; two granddaughters, Cara Monroe (Jonathan) and Alison Irvine; her brother, Frederick Oakley along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucille retired from the Oxford Orphanage and had previously worked with Granville County Schools and JFD Electronics
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Berea, where she was a member. Pastor William Wheeler will officiate. Burial will follow in the Adcock Family Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the service in the fellowship hall.
